Free Compost Workshops
These workshops are typically 2 hours on Saturday mornings throughout the San Diego Region. See our Events Calendar for the most updated dates and locations of our workshops. Please fill out the Registration Form for the specific workshop you wish to attend, this form can be found by clicking on the event in the calendar, or following the link below.
In this workshop, you will learn methods and knowledge of composting and vermicomposting (composting with worms). Our teachers are Master Composter Volunteers who have completed our 5-week intensive composting course and all have a great passion and experience with composting. They will answer and thoroughly explain any questions you may have. All workshops are held at a demonstration site (ie., Water Conservation Garden, San Diego Botanic Gardens, San Diego Zoo, etc.) with different types of compost bins to help illustrate how to manage and build your own.
Subsidized bins, books, and some composting supplies will be available for sale only at the workshops located in Unicorporated San Diego County and the City of Encinitas.
Please note that the workshops held at the San Diego Zoo are located in the Otto Center.
